Bio
Hugo Silva
The figurative research in Hugo Silva paintings establishes a tension state on maintenance of the traditional pictorial elements and the distinction which continually extends and enhances what is defined. The hybrid language in his paintings reveals a subtle dialectic of meanings, offering to the viewer the opportunity to reflect on the basis of binary relations presented: illustration and realistic representation, the ludic and the poetic, the real and the simulacrum. The bidimensionality of conventional support composes an ambiguous syntax - as has been systematically dispensed in a posterior painting to modernity - which extends to the semantic field, reaffirming the fundamental importance of interaction in fruition and constructing meanings which exceed the representation.
